What is 22Cr?

22Cr is shorthand for a stainless steel based upon a composition of 22% chromium – a duplex stainless steel.

What is 25Cr?

25Cr is shorthand for a kind of super duplex stainless steel, based upon a composition of 25% chromium. How Does 25CR differ from Standard Stainless Steel? Chromium is a normal component of Stainless Steel — where it is used to increase the steel’s resistance to oxidation. An increase in the level of chromium increases this […]

What is the difference between S32750 and S32760?

S32750 and S32760 are both super duplex stainless steels (SDSS). As such, their microstructure is a combination of austenitic and ferritic grains, which imparts the most favourable properties of each. They are based upon a 25% chromium content (25Cr), but differences in their mechanical properties, physical properties and composition are small.

What is SDSS?

SDSS is an acronym for Super Duplex Stainless Steel. A duplex stainless steel is a combination of a ferritic and an austenitic microstructure, and combines the most favourable properties of each.  There are a number of different SDSS available, as the family of alloys based upon a 25% chromium (25Cr) content has developed since the 1960’s.

What is Alloy 255?

Alloy 255 is a generic description of our unique Ferralium 255 super duplex stainless steel (DIN 1.4507, UNS S32550, ASTM F61).

What is CG6MMn?

CG6MMn is a cast product specification most closely aligning to the wrought super duplex stainless steel product UNS S20910.

What is CD3Mn?

CD3Mn is a cast product specification most closely aligning to the wrought super duplex stainless steel product UNS S32205.

What is CD4MCuN?

CD4MCuN is a cast product specification most closely aligning to the wrought super duplex stainless steel product UNS S32550.

What is CD3MWCuN

CD3MWCuN is a cast product specification most closely aligning to the wrought super duplex stainless steel product UNS S32760.

What is the Impact Toughness of Duplex and Super Duplex Stainless Steels?

Impact toughness is the ability of a metal to withstand a suddenly applied shock load and is quantified by the amount of energy absorbed.

What is the ASTM G48 test?

ASTM G48 is a corrosion test used as a measure of pitting corrosion resistance of stainless steels.

What is the melting point of stainless steel?

As they are an alloy of several different metals, the melting point of stainless steel happens over a temperature range.
