Ferralium 255

Ferralium ® achieves strengths higher than most stainless steels and alternative corrosion resistant alloys.

As a super duplex stainless steel supplied in the hot worked and annealed condition, Ferralium ® offers the potential to reduce section size and therefore the overall weight and cost.

As well as this, it offers excellent corrosion resistance in a huge variety of corrosive applications, including dealing with corrosive chemicals including sulphuric, nitric and phosphoric acid.

Listed in NACE MR 01 75 for sour service, as well as being ASME Approved for Pressure Vessel applications, the alloy is tested to the absolute highest degree to ensure and guarantee that the product possess a high structural integrity, the correct phase balance and the absence of sigma.

Mulitiple Positives with Ferralium ®

Ferralium ® has a number of positives, making it one of the best alloys on the market today.

Originally developed in the 1960’s, Ferralium ® pioneered the addition of nitrogen in the creation process – offering the first ever creation of a super duplex stainless steel.

From then, it was continuously developed throughout the 1990’s to extend it’s pitting resistance equivalent number, and has been more recently worked with to increase mechanical properties.

Available as bars, plates, piping and fittings, with complementary weld wire, the alloy is particularly suitable for larger components as the formation of sigma phase is much less likely than it is in other super duplex grades.

With applications in the oil and gas industry, as well pollution control, marine use and water and sewage treatment – the super duplex stainless steel is incredibly versatile and useful.
